Summary

Have you had enough? Young women today are constantly told they are not enough for this world—not pretty enough, not smart enough, not exciting enough, not spiritual enough, and just plain not good enough. The barrage is constant. The consequences are real. The damage often feels permanent. As a young woman herself, Grace Valentine has felt the pressure of trying to survive in a toxic culture, let alone thrive. But she’s had enough. With an engaging combination of honesty and humor, Grace uses her story to confront the lies the world tells us every day—lies such as: You are beautiful because a guy told you so, Love must be earned, You should forget your past, You will never be enough, and more. Am I Enough? is a line in the sand. It’s a declaration that we will never be enough for this world because we were not created for this world. Instead, Grace reminds us that we were created by Someone better for something better. We can choose the One who has chosen us—the One who says: “You are enough for Me, My child. Come as you are.”

Summary

You are Enough explores why we have become so worried about what other people think of us, and what our infatuation with comparison can cause on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. If you are sick of striving, or feeling like a perfectionist comparer, here are the practical tools for getting out of the comparison trap, so that you can learn to accept yourself as you are, and revel in the sense of peace and ease that this brings. Are you sick of giving yourself a hard time? Have you had enough of comparing yourself to others? Do you feel that nothing you do is good enough? It doesn’t have to be this way. Because guess what? Your worth is innate—you can’t earn it with accomplishments or by hitting your goals … which means you can’t lose it when you think you haven’t done enough. It’s time to let go of the negative thoughts that keep telling you that you’ll only be more when you work harder … that keep you stuck, constantly comparing yourself to those around you. It’s time to understand what your body is trying to tell you when you’re burning out, pushing yourself to your limits, and chasing self-worth, achievements and perfectionism. You are enough. Knowing this starts with accepting yourself. And the shift to true self-acceptance is realising you’re already enough.

Summary

From one of the sharpest Christian voices of her generation and host of the podcast Relatable comes a framework for escaping our culture of trendy narcissism—and embracing God instead. We're told that the key to happiness is self-love. Instagram influencers, mommy bloggers, self-help gurus, and even Christian teachers promise that if we learn to love ourselves, we'll be successful, secure, and complete. But the promise doesn't deliver. Instead of feeling fulfilled, our pursuit of self-love traps us in an exhausting cycle: as we strive for self-acceptance, we become addicted to self-improvement. The truth is we can't find satisfaction inside ourselves because we are the problem. We struggle with feelings of inadequacy because we are inadequate. Alone, we are not good enough, smart enough, or beautiful enough. We're not enough--period. And that's okay, because God is. The answer to our insufficiency and insecurity isn't self-love, but God's love. In Jesus, we're offered a way out of our toxic culture of self-love and into a joyful life of relying on him for wisdom, satisfaction, and purpose. We don't have to wonder what it's all about anymore. This is it. This book isn't about battling your not-enoughness; it's about embracing it. Allie Beth Stuckey, a Christian, conservative new mom, found herself at the dead end of self-love, and she wants to help you combat the false teachings and self-destructive mindsets that got her there. In this book, she uncovers the myths popularized by our self-obsessed culture, reveals where they manifest in politics and the church, and dismantles them with biblical truth and practical wisdom.

Summary

Healing is a choice. This is the continuing key lesson learned by Mike Pestano from his journey of transformation. A lesson instilled in him by his spiritual mentors Radhaa Nilia of Goddess Code Academy and Maya The Shaman. When he was diagnosed with a rare and incurable autoimmune condition in 2014 after two hospitalizations in California and in Canada he had two options. The word fear has two meanings: Forget everything and run or face everything and rise. In this book you will learn how he overcame this incurable condition naturally and without the help of man-made drugs. It is a story about faith, hope, courage, and a continued evolution of mind, body, and spirit that leads to an incredible discovery. We place our fate too many times in the hands of others that adhere to only one mindset of healing. In this book you will learn further the natural and unique healing protocols Mike developed integrating nutrition, exercise programs, mindset programming, energy healing, and spiritual nourishment that healed the incurable autoimmune condition that scarred his liver, bile ducts, and kidneys. This is a continuation of a journey that began in 2011 when Mike reversed type 2 diabetes and battled obesity successfully by losing 107 pounds in 16 months. He discovered that through the initial experience of undergoing that first transformation it prepared him to face the ultimate battle for his life and his soul. The lessons he learned and the healing protocols he developed are all outlined in this book. It is a book that delves deep into the shadows of our humanity. The ones that we tend to disregard and cast aside because we perceive that to have flaws, insecurities, guilt, shame, failures, and mistakes is not a part of being human. These attributes that he learns to accept are ultimately what propels his self-healing. The answers to all of life’s questions about existence and purpose come to Mike on this journey of healing from 2013 to 2016. When we embrace our shadows and integrate it into our whole being we are complete. The timeless lessons he learned from his spiritual mentors became his foundation as he implemented them all to save his life. Now this story can be told and shared to the world with confidence, love, and gratitude.

Summary

Researcher, thought leader, and New York Times bestselling author Brené Brown offers a liberating study on the importance of our imperfections—both to our relationships and to our own sense of self The quest for perfection is exhausting and unrelenting. There is a constant barrage of social expectations that teach us that being imperfect is synonymous with being inadequate. Everywhere we turn, there are messages that tell us who, what and how we’re supposed to be. So, we learn to hide our struggles and protect ourselves from shame, judgment, criticism and blame by seeking safety in pretending and perfection. Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, is the leading authority on the power of vulnerability, and has inspired thousands through her top-selling books Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, and The Gifts of Imperfection, her wildly popular TEDx talks, and a PBS special. Based on seven years of her ground-breaking research and hundreds of interviews, I Thought It Was Just Me shines a long-overdue light on an important truth: Our imperfections are what connect us to each other and to our humanity. Our vulnerabilities are not weaknesses; they are powerful reminders to keep our hearts and minds open to the reality that we’re all in this together. Brown writes, “We need our lives back. It’s time to reclaim the gifts of imperfection—the courage to be real, the compassion we need to love ourselves and others, and the connection that gives true purpose and meaning to life. These are the gifts that bring love, laughter, gratitude, empathy and joy into our lives.”

Summary

Adonais is the first writing by Shelley which has been included in the Clarendon Press Series. It is a poem of convenient length for such a purpose, being neither short nor decidedly long; and—leaving out of count some of the short poems—is the one by this author which approaches nearest to being 'popular.' It is elevated in sentiment, classical in form,—in substance, biographical in relation to Keats, and in some minor degree autobiographical for Shelley himself. On these grounds it claimed a reasonable preference over all his other poems, for the present method of treatment; although some students of Shelley, myself included, might be disposed to maintain that, in point of absolute intrinsic beauty and achievement, and of the qualities most especially characteristic of its author, it is not superior, or indeed is but barely equal, to some of his other compositions. To take, for instance, two poems not very different in length from Adonais—The Witch of Atlas is more original, and Epipsychidion more abstract in ideal.

Summary

Why do we send our children to school? How can learning be meaningful? And most importantly, how can we build schools worthy of our children? From the time children are little, we start making stories about them. Schools are like factories where these stories are manufactured all the time. Some children, who're at the top of the social hierarchy, enjoy rich, diverse and colourful stories, which are told and retold. But there are many who spend most of their lives in school, clutching on to single, thin narratives where they've been judged as: 'a failure', 'can do better', 'not up to the mark' or 'not reaching potential' - every 'not' restricting and making their narratives thinner, limited, with lesser scope for possibilities. These are the children who are forgotten, who are invisible and who are seen as never being good enough. At the core of this book is a deep faith that learning is about the magical relationship the teacher builds with each child; it is about building emotionally safe, inclusive spaces for creative learning - this is the heart, the lifeblood, the bare bones of learning. Imagine is a call to action for teachers, parents, counsellors, therapists, activists, thought leaders and other change agents in our society. It is a game changer that will force us to reflect, rethink and redesign schools to ones that our children truly deserve.

Summary

From the moment a woman wakes until she falls, exhausted, on her pillow, one question plagues her at every turn: Am I enough? The pressure to do more, be more has never been more intense. Online marketing. Self-help books. Movies, magazines and gym memberships. Even church attendance and social media streams have become a means of comparing ourselves to impossible standards. Am I pretty enough? Hip enough? Spiritual enough? We fear the answer is “No.” When a brutal bout with cancer changed how she looked, talked, and lived, Michele Cushatt embarked on a soul-deep journey to rediscover herself. The typical self-esteem strategies and positivity plans weren’t enough. Instead, she needed a new foundation, one that wouldn’t prove flimsy when faced with the onslaught of day-to-day life. With raw personal stories, rock-solid biblical teaching, and radical truths on which to rebuild your life, I Am will help you: • End the barrage of negative self-talk with an empowering new narrative. • Refuse to ride the rollercoaster of others’ opinions and start believing what God’s says about you. • Stop agonizing over past regrets and failures and make peace with God’s sovereign plan for your life. • Leave insecurity behind as you exchange temporary fixes for an identity established on God’s unchanging affection. I Am reminds us that our value isn’t found in our talents, achievements, relationships, or appearance. It is instead found in a God who chose us, sent us, and promised to be with us—forever.

Summary

This novel is based on the true story of the Pendle witches, who were executed in 1612 for causing harm by witchcraft. The story begins against the backdrop of the 1536 Pilgrimage of Grace, an uprising by northern Catholics against the English Reformation instituted by King Henry VIII. John Paslew, Abbot of Whalley tries to organize his forces in preparation for joining the main body of the rebel army, but he collides with Nicholas Demdike, known as the husband of a notorious witch. Demdike foretells the death of abbot, but claims that he can help him if he baptizes Demdike's daughter. The abbot declines, cursing the child to be a witch and the mother of witches. Following story is based largely on the official account of the Lancashire witch trials.
