Summary

“As evident through the pages of this book, Snow holds a vision for the queer aspirant who hears the call to witchery, to find healing, empowerment, strength, and pride through their craft. Through creative and unique journal prompts, introspection, rituals, and spells, Snow achieves this beautifully, and herein lays the perfect guide for the queer witch to stand in their power and stand beside others; truly queering our craft with compassion and pride.” --Mat Auryn, author of Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick, and Manifestation Witchcraft has always belonged to the outsiders and outcasts in society, yet so much of the practice enforces and adheres to the same hierarchy we face in the world at large—a hierarchy that isolates and hurts those living beyond society’s binaries and boundaries. While there are books that address magick for resistance and queer myth, until now there has not been one that specifically addresses the practice of queer magick from an LGBTQ+ standpoint. Queering Your Craft combines queer aesthetic and culture (like DIY culture and an emphasis on chosen family over formal covens) with pagan and metaphysical spiritual practice in a way that is commonplace but has not been written about until now. This book covers the personal, the collective, and the political, and how deeply intertwined all three are in a magickal practice for those who are LGBTQ+. In this introduction to witchcraft, Snow presents why/how each concept is important to a queer craft, or how to approach it from a queer mindset. For example, conventional prayer, words, and symbols have always been problematic in a queer universe: How to make them work and still be true to yourself? The bulk of the book is about learning the craft. The latter portion is a grimoire of spells. While accessible to beginning witches, Queering Your Craft provides new and inspiring information for longtime practitioners interested in a pure and personal approach that avoids the baggage of history and stereotype.

Summary

I am a Traditionalist. A Traditional Wiccan High Priestess Witch. I am not a person with an Ivy League education. Nor am I a scholar with 6 or 7 degrees! I do not speak any language other than English, a few choice Spanish words and some pig latin. I don't use big fancy words where you have to have a dictionary to read the book and I don't use long, complicated sentences that you have to read 16 times to understand what I'm saying. I'm not a professional writer and even if I were, I felt this book needed to be written where anyone could read it without any difficulty no matter the level of reading one does or how long they've been on the path of Wicca. Most people will agree there have been many books written on the subject of Wicca. So many of them it can become confusing and frustrating for the Novice because most books are simply bits and pieces of Wicca thrown together coupled with a person's personal opinion and experience. There are many important details left out. Details that are inclusive in most Traditional Wiccan training. Keep in mind there's only one way to receive full training and it does not come from a book or from the internet. This book is different than your average "how to" book on Wicca. There are no spells. It is not about magic. There are no instructions on how to cast a Circle or how to call the quarters. There's plenty of books out there on all of those subjects. If that is the kind of book you were expecting, I am happy to inform you that it is not. This is a book that explains a (seemingly) fast disappearing perspective regarding important protocol and important elements that are missing in today's practices within the religion of Wicca in our American Wiccan communities today. A perspective (believed by many) that should return. The book also points out some of our problems and issues in the Wiccan community that are going on here today in the United States. Problems and issues that have arose since the occurrence of Wicca's massive growth spurt and the booming book and internet industry that surrounds it! This book is written based on my training, experiences, knowledge and information that I have personally gained over the years from walking and living the life of a Wiccan Witch. There is information contained within this book that you normally would not hear or know about Wicca unless you had (or have) a teacher. Teacher meaning a "Traditional Wiccan High Priestess or Priest Witch" to help you along, to guide, direct and train you. The sole purpose of this book is to give you some of that information that you would not receive without training, without an experienced High Priestess or Priest to give it to you. Much of it is information that you will not find in books and is vital to Traditional Wiccan practice. Some which is basic Wiccan protocol that has been passed down orally and/or verbally through the generations, some since the beginning of Wicca and its oral Traditions in the United States. Oral and verbal protocol that was (and still is) being given to Novices in their beginner level training in some of the working Traditional Covensteads. My hope is that it will provide the reader/s with a fresh (yet certainly not new) look at Wicca and hopefully help guide them in the direction that's most beneficial for them. If you find it to be controversial for, remember this is a perspective coming from a Traditional Wiccan Witch who has been formally trained in a Tradition of Wicca in a Traditional Wiccan Coven. Either way, I hope anyone who reads it will get something from it even if its just a small something and that it will help in some way as you step onto the path of Wicca or onto the next crossroads of your journey in Wicca. Before you begin to read this book, please understand that I am not staking any claims that I am the "Wiccan Guru" or the "Grand Poohbah of Wicca"! I have never claimed such nor will I ever claim such ! So please do not take my words out of context or twist them in any way! I ask that you understand and know that my words are in no way conveying that a person is not legitimately Wiccan or not legitimately practicing Wicca if they don't do things the way I explain in this book or if they do not practice the way I do! It is not a book that says "do it this way and no other or that my way is the only way or the best way." Not at all. The book was written for the reader/s to understand Wicca from a Traditional perspective and to come to their own conclusions about what to do (if anything) after reading it. Again, this is a book written from my own training and experiences and from the knowledge I have gathered over the years of walking this path. If you have questions about something that is stated in the book, please refer to the Facebook page that is set up for discussion of the book. I am sure some folks will go on with their usual way of doing things, regardless of what I have to say. And I wouldn't expect anything more or anything less. I do not wish to complicate things for anyone. I am in hopes it will answer some questions or rid the reader of any preconceived ideas or confusion she/he might have, maybe even eliminate some of the incorrect information you have come across during your seeking and/or walk in the path of Wicca thus far. If nothing else, maybe it will provoke thought on some new (yet not new) ideas. Not following any protocol, not having any criteria, not having or abiding by any rules of any kind is leaving a door wide open for Occult mayhem. In my own personal opinion I feel we're not far from it, if not already in mayhem. I feel it is time we make bigger changes. Changes that will help Wicca grow and prosper in a more positive way. It is a vision of mine to see changes taking place in the Wiccan community, changes that will bring the Traditional practices of Wicca back where they use to be and as a result bring a successful religion to the lands we live and to the path and religion that I care so much about. Wicca is not the "be all or end all" of Occult paths. Wicca is just one Occult path out of many that a person may learn or take. Learning as much as you can about as many of them as you can is always encouraged. But if you are interested in Wicca (in particular) and you live in the United States, it is wise to heed the advice of the older, trained and more experienced long term members of the "Wiccan community" who have practiced (paritcularly here) in the United States. Due to the the love and passion I have for Wicca, I have been called to write this book. I would like to thank every person who has been with me through this journey because all of you have contributed in my writing it. Both directly and indirectly. A thank you goes out to those of you who have purchased the book. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. **NOTE** ; If you do not agree with something I have stated in this book and wish to debate it, please be an adult about it and show your level of spiritual maturity by writing your own book in rebuttle to it. If you have something to say in defense or do not agree with something and do not wish to write a book in rebuttle, please refer to the discussion page on Facebook that has been set up so we can talk about it. The one thing that I ask is that you have enough respect for me to not stoop to personal verbal attacks, my training or my own personal experiences and perspectives just because you don't agree with me! I would be most grateful for that! Thanks! Happy Reading! Rain Dove

Summary

THE WORD: Welsh Witchcraft and America By Rhuddlwm Gawr, Taliesin Enion Vawr, & Merridden Gawr. Introduction by Sarah Llewellyn Book Three of The Quest Trilogy Many avid readers have awaited publication of The Word, part three of the Quest Trilogy. This is the most comprehensive book ever published on the practice of Welsh Witchcraft, and is one of the few books that teaches the basic spirituality of the Craft. It discloses why and how Welsh Witchcraft began. It reveals the religious practices and explains the mysteries of the magical rituals. It demonstrates initiation and guides the reader through that ritual as well as the arcane teachings. The Word establishes the claim that Welsh Witchcraft is a remnant of the ancient religion of Hyperborea and Atlantis.

Summary

This is the 2nd edition of volume 3 of the ten volumes of The Meaning And Explanation Of The Glorious Qur'an. The first edition of this book contained many formatting and typing errors. In this new edition, we have corrected all the errors found in the first edition. We have also re-arranged the structure of the book and added the full Arabic Text of the thirty Parts of the Qur'an. The reader is now able to read not only the meaning, the transliteration and the tafsir (explanation) of the Glorious Qur'an but also the full Arabic text as well. Our mission is to gather in one place, for the English-speaking public, all relevant information needed to make the Qur'an more understandable and easier to study. This book tries to do this by providing the following: 1. The Arabic Text for those who are able to read Arabic 2. Transliteration of the Arabic text for those who are unable to read the Arabic script. This will give them a sample of the sound of the Qur'an, which they could not otherwise comprehend from reading the English meaning. 3. The meaning of the qur'an (translated by Dr. Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali, Ph.D. and Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan) 4. Background introductions by two famous Islamic scholars, Maududi and Ibn Kathir 5. Explanation (abridged Tafsir) by Ibn Kathir (translated by Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri) We hope that by doing this an ordinary English-speaker will be able to pick up a copy of this book and study and comprehend The Glorious Qur'an in a way that is acceptable to the understanding of the Rightly-guided Muslim Ummah (Community).

Summary

The second novel in the "Tarzan" series opens with the aristocratic ape man aboard an ocean liner en route from New York to Europe, on which he has encounters with Russian spies, French counts, and beautiful women. Tarzan had renounced his right to the woman he loved, and civilization held no pleasure for him. After a brief and harrowing period among men, he turned back to the African jungle where he had grown to manhood. It was there he first heard of Opar, the city of gold, left over from fabled Atlantis. It was a city of hideous men - and of beautiful, savage women, over whom reigned La, high priestess of the Flaming God. Its altars were stained with the blood of many sacrifices. Unheeding of the dangers, Tarzan led a band of savage warriors toward the ancient crypts and the more ancient evil of Opar.

Summary

What is the future of religion given the responses of young people? What impact do existing religious forms have on youth? What kind of spirituality and religion are young people creating for themselves? Religion and Youth presents an accessible guide to the key issues in the study of youth and religion, including methodological perspectives. It provides a key teaching text in these areas for undergraduates, and a book of rigorous scholarship for postgraduates, academics and practitioners. Offering the first comprehensive international perspective on the sociology of youth and religion, this book reveals key geographical and organisational variables as well as the complexities of the engagement between youth and religion. The book is divided into six parts organised around central themes: Generation X and their legacy; The Big Picture - surveys of belief and practice in the USA, UK and Australia; Expression - how young people construct and live out their religion and spirituality; Identity - the role of religion in shaping young people's sense of self and social belonging; Transmission - passing on the faith (or not); Researching Youth Religion - debates, issues and techniques in researching young people's religion and spirituality. James A. Beckford writes the Foreword and Linda Woodhead the Epilogue.

Summary

Set near and on Lake Ontario in the 1750s, The Pathfinder is chronologically the third installation of James Fenimore Cooper’s gripping Leatherstocking Tales. While the French Indian War rages on, Mabel, a nineteen-year-old young woman, is travelling to see her father, Sergeant Thomas Dunham. Accompanied by her uncle and two Native Americans, Smashing Arrows and June Dew, Mabel treks through the dense forests of upstate New York, towards her father’s home on Lake Ontario. While the group approaches a river, they meet up with Natty Bumppo, a middle-aged hero who has earned the nickname “Pathfinder”, and his friends, Chingachgook and Jasper. The two parties agree to combine, because the forest has become a perilous place amid the French Indian War. As they continue their journey to Thomas Dunham’s house, an English castle on the shore of Lake Ontario, the group faces narrow escapes, dangerous terrain, and the consequences of the French Indian War. Though, even when they arrive at the home of Sergeant Thomas Dunham, their journey has barely begun. While he was glad to reunite with his daughter, Dunham’s true motivation for her arrival was his hopes to marry her to Pathfinder. However, Mabel has already fallen in love with Jasper. Still, in efforts to manipulate the couple, Dunham tells Pathfinder that Mabel wishes to marry him. While this love triangle persists, the group is challenged with battles, treason and the collateral damage of each. Based off of James Fenimore Cooper’s real-life experience as a shipman, The Pathfinder explores a nautical setting, along with the pioneer setting of its predecessors. Placed chronologically third in the narrative of the Leatherstocking Tales, James Fenimore Cooper’s The Pathfinder combines adventure and romance. With a picturesque setting, treachery, love, and adventure, The Pathfinder remains to be a captivating narrative that explores new characters in the acclaimed series. Now featuring a new, eye-catching cover design, and a modern, readable font, this edition of The Pathfinder by James Fenimore Cooper is an American classic that entertains with stories of passion and adventure, while allowing readers to immerse themselves in the climate and terrain of early America.

Summary

The Ozark Trilogy (previously published in 1981, Doubleday) is a widely acclaimed fantasy/science fiction story with, as the title suggests, very strong ties to the Ozark region. Twelve Fair Kingdoms, The Grand Jubilee, And Then There’ll Be Fireworks—the books that comprise the trilogy—chronicle life on the planet Ozark and its Confederation of Continents, which are appropriately named Arkansaw, Oklahomah, Mizzurah, Tinaseeh, Kintucky, and Marktwain. However, the story told here involves much more than a mere transplant of Ozark culture and heritage onto a new planet. While this new Ozark culture maintains and even intensifies many of the “real” Ozark traditions and customs (for instance, “Grannys” hold significant, stabilizing social roles and are important sources of wisdom), the planet Ozark combines many new, fantastical elements with traditional ways. Mules on Ozark fly, and the wise “Grannys” also work magic. The protagonist of The Ozark Trilogy, Responsible of Brightwater, appears at the center of Ozark society, a society she must save from evil magic, civil war, and, ultimately, alien invasion. As Responsible travels from continent to continent in an attempt to discover and squelch the evil magic and calm the civil unrest, we are witness to many dangerous and sometimes comical adventures along the way, including a spectacular flying Mule crash and a magic duel with a Granny gone bad. Elgin has created a fantastic world infused with the folk traditions, social and familial hierarchies, and traditional dialect of the Ozarks. While parallels might be drawn between, for example, the break-up of the Confederacy of Continents on planet Ozark and the American Civil War, Elgin comments on aspects of Ozark history and tradition in a non didactic way. The trilogy, with its strong heroine and witty engagement of tradition, is a classic of Ozark literature.

Summary

From the shelves of mainstream bookstores and the pages of teen magazines, to popular films and television series, contemporary culture at the turn of the twenty-first century has been fascinated with teenage identity and the presence of magic and the occult. Alongside this profusion of products and representations, a global network of teenage Witches has emerged on the margins of adult neopagan Witchcraft communities, identifying themselves through various spiritual practices, consumption patterns and lifestyle choices. The New Generation Witches is the first published anthology to investigate the recent rise of the teenage Witchcraft phenomenon in both Britain and North America. Scholars from Theology, Cultural Studies, Sociology, History and Media Studies, along with neopagan commentators outside of the academy, come together to investigate the experiences of thousands of adolescents constructing an enabling, magical identity through a distinctive practice of Witchcraft. The contributors discuss key areas of interest, inspiration and development within the teen Witch communities from the mid 1990s onward, including teenage Witches' magical practices and beliefs, gender politics, the formation and identification of communities, forums and modes of expression, media representation and new media outlets. Demonstrating the diversification and expansion of neopaganism in the twenty-first century, this anthology makes an exciting contribution to the field of Neopagan Studies and contemporary youth cultures.

Summary

In the second edition of this witty and infectious book, Madsen Pirie builds upon his guide to using - and indeed abusing - logic in order to win arguments. By including new chapters on how to win arguments in writing, in the pub, with a friend, on Facebook and in 140 characters (on Twitter), Pirie provides the complete guide to triumphing in altercations ranging from the everyday to the downright serious. He identifies with devastating examples all the most common fallacies popularly used in argument. We all like to think of ourselves as clear-headed and logical - but all readers will find in this book fallacies of which they themselves are guilty. The author shows you how to simultaneously strengthen your own thinking and identify the weaknesses in other people arguments. And, more mischievously, Pirie also shows how to be deliberately illogical - and get away with it. This book will make you maddeningly smart: your family, friends and opponents will all wish that you had never read it. Publisher's warning: In the wrong hands this book is dangerous. We recommend that you arm yourself with it whilst keeping out of the hands of others. Only buy this book as a gift if you are sure that you can trust the recipient.

Summary

In 11th-century England, a boy named Wulf serves as a thane under the nobleman Earl Harold of Wessex. When a massive force of Breton, French, and Norman soldiers invades at the behest of William the Conquerer, Wulf and his master gear up for battle and fight to defend their beloved country.
