Summary

DO NOT BE FOOLED! The Church, the body of Christ, has stood both spiritually and biblically through a long history of effective ministry. Empowered and gifted by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God the local church is still standing! We find the church challenged today by a radically changing time; the Greek “anion” refers to “a period of time.” The Apostle Paul warned of the “Perilous times” to come in the last days: the great rejection of God and the sacrificial offering [blood] that God requires – for a [bloodless] substitute, that humanity is willing to give. (see Genesis 4:3-7; Hebrews 11:4)

Summary

In his essay The End for Which God Created the World, the great theologian Jonathan Edwards proclaimed that God's ultimate end is the manifestation of his glory in the highest happiness of his creatures. Pastor John Piper has devoted his years of ministry to exploring the implications of this stunning truth for life and ministry. Understanding that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him has made all the difference for John Piper-and can transform your life as well. Here Piper passionately demonstrates the relevance of Edwards's ideals for the personal and public lives of Christians today through his own book-length introduction to Edwards's The End for Which God Created the World. This book also contains the complete essay supplemented by almost a hundred of Piper's insightful explanatory notes. The result is a powerful and persuasive presentation of the things that matter most in the Christian life.

Summary

“He is to American broadcasting as Carnegie was to steel, Ford to automobiles, Luce to publishing, and Ruth to baseball,” wrote The New York Times of Willian S. Paley—the man who built CBS, the “Tiffany Network.” Sally Bedell Smith’s In All His Glory takes a hard look at Paley and the perfect world he created for himself, revealing the extraordinary complexity of the man who let nothing get in the way of his vast ambitions. Tracing his life from Chicago, where Paley was born to a family of cigar makers, to the glamorous haunts of Manhattan, Smith shows us the shrewd, demanding egoist, the hedonist pursuing every form of pleasure, the corporate strongman famous for his energy and ruthlessness. Drawing on highly placed CBS sources and hundreds of interviews, and with a supporting cast of such glittering figures as Truman Capote, Slim Keith, Jock Whitney, Ted Turner, David Sarnoff, Brooke Astor and a parade of Paley’s humiliated heirs, In All His Glory is a richly textured story of business, power and social ambition. Praise for In All His Glory “A sweeping study of the emergence of broadcasting, the American immigrant experience, and the ravenous personal and professional tastes of Paley as he charmed and clawed his way to the top of society.”—Los Angeles Times “Riveting…packed with revelations, rich in radio and TV lore, sprinkled with intrigues, glitz, and wheeling and dealing at the highest levels of media and government.”—Publishers Weekly “An impressive, meticulously researched work of broadcast history as well as a piquant glimpse inside CBS’s corporate culture.”—Time

Summary

“Return to your house and tell what great things God has done for you” (Luke 8:39) This is the true testimony of my past life of a broken vessel--lost, hopeless, and drained of all energy to live. When I walked away from God as I did, it was the darkest time of my life; I was a slave to sin and corruption, which almost took my life. Drug addiction, alcohol abuse, prostitution, robbery, theft, deceit, abortions, and walking away from my children were all part of Satan’s plan to make sure I sank into the gates of hell. But God took pity on my soul; I was His and didn’t realize it.

Summary

It’s obvious that we are living in an exceptional time. Exceptional times require exceptional measures. As in Psalm 2, there is an effort by world rulers to dethrone God and eradicate from society, any references to Christ. Consequently, a war has been declared against Christ’s Church, which at this point in history is in a lethargic state. A defiant departure from God and a slow purge of His helpful boundaries has led to emptiness of souls, moral decadence, arrogance, division, confusion... The Sovereign God is, however, going to respond to the seemingly insurmountable challenges we face in a unique way. God is coming down through what we know as a revival and an awakening to heal the wounded world, the book states. This exceptional divine intervention is what The Coming Deluge of His Glory is about. It chronicles the author’s fascinating and unusual history with God from a voodoo-saturated village in Benin, West Africa to the United-States. A unique journey that has given birth to a unique divine perspective. This book is a compelling vision of a glorious season ahead. “Heaven is ready to touch the Earth. God is coming down like an overwhelming flood to make His purpose established on Earth.” Nestor said. He describes in the book the descriptive visions and insights the Holy Spirit instilled in him about the so-awaited revival and awakening. The Coming Deluge of His Glory will stir up faith, hope, and love in believers through captivating revelations and Nestor’s knowledge of God’s agenda for His kingdom. It’s a proclamation of the coming of God’s army, a lion generation of Christians whose mission is to conquer, rule, and reign with a royal authority and power. It will set your heart on fire and help you explore the intensity of the Father’s sublime love.

Summary

In this expository commentary on the book of Exodus, Philip Graham Ryken mines the story of Israel’s escape from Egypt for knowledge of God’s character and instruction for his followers. Theologically instructive and decidedly pastoral, this commentary leads readers to rejoice at God’s work in the life of every person who follows him on the path to spiritual freedom. Ryken skillfully relates how the Israelites’ deliverance from slavery anticipated the salvation accomplished in Jesus Christ, proving that God remembers his covenant and always delivers on his promises. For those who preach, teach, and study God’s Word, this book is more than just a commentary; it is a celebration of God’s faithfulness. The book of Daniel abounds with powerful imagery showcasing God’s unmatched glory and wise plan for the future. In this accessible commentary, pastor Rodney Stortz highlights the coming triumph of God's kingdom, offering pastors and Bible teachers a resource to help them explain and apply Daniel’s message to Christians today. Stortz’s careful exegesis and perceptive applications focus on personal holiness, the wisdom and power of God, and the importance of Daniel’s prophecies concerning the Messiah and the Antichrist. In addition, this commentary looks to the New Testament to shed light on Daniel’s prophecies about the future. Part of the Preaching the Word series.

Summary

In the world today, some believe in evolution, This has given cause for a lot of confusion The Big Bang theory is just man’s opinion the Bible, In Genesis gives an authentic account of creation. This inspired book chronicles how all things began And still exists in the air, in the seas, and on land All came into being by the word of God’s command Only man, the crowning act of creation was made by his hand From the dust of the earth with his breath he gave man life Put Adam to sleep, took a rib, And fashioned for him a wife God created man in his own image and likeness specifically As in his word it is described fearfully and wonderfully The only creatures he gave wisdom, dominion, and authority Endowed with knowledge to think and speak intelligently Yet many are still saying man is a descendant of monkey Perverting God’s gift to promote evolution’s false theory His word informs man, “God created in the beginning” All doubts and disbelief came about as a result of sin There is enough evidence in creation to put our trust in Not one of God’s children should question their origin.

Summary

The book’s title is captivating; all will want to know his glory and the content of his riches. The book is written in five parts in a lucid and clear language. The content is well researched; all the information is Bible-based. Most impressive is part five: “Christians should believe the report of the Lord embedded in the Bible – His written word,” as the author asserted. The author’s style is also impressive as he brought his personal testimony right at the end, only to buttress his experience in participating in various mode of worship by the main denominations: Anglican, Methodist, Roman Catholic, and Charismatic. In a subtle way, he corrected critics who are biased or prejudiced about other mode of worship. To quote: “All denominations in Christianity, worship God in a slightly different way but rather each does it in accordance with God’s word. ‘In no way can these denominations operate in the same order of worship because the Bible makes a clear distinction on the different methods of worship which I believe is the order of Heaven.” He was able to bring out the diversified talents in which Christians made music a thing of joy in God’s house—each unique to its own task. "The book is informative, inspirational and stimulating... It is highly recommended for theologians, students as well as lay people. It can be appealing to Christians and Non-Christians as all will be exposed to the wonderful revelation of The Riches of the Glory of God." Blanche O. O. Macauley Director, Institute of Educational and Extra-Mural Studies Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone. "As I read this book, my trust, confidence and belief in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross increased considerably. Salvation plan is so explicit in this book that I believe that whosoever reads this book his faith and trust in the finished work of Christ will be increased." Victor B. Macauley Retired Engineer, National Power Authority Freetown, Sierra Leone "Riches of His Glory – a rich text of God’s assurance of love in showing how He rescued man from darkness into his marvellous light " Olivet C. R. Williams Editor & Mum, Sydney, Australia The author clearly explained in this masterpiece work of the art of writing the eternal plan of God in rescuing mankind from the state of eternal condemnation to eternal victory in Christ. His message is so clear and direct that whosoever reads it would be in the position to make a decisive change in the way of life in order to attain glory both now and in heaven with God. It is a book of eternal value not to be missed. Marjorie B. R. J. Hughes Retired self-employed Freetown, Sierra Leone "The book is informative, inspirational and stimulating... It is highly recommended for theologians, students as well as lay people. It can be appealing to Christians and Non-Christians as all will be exposed to the wonderful revelation of The Riches of the Glory of God." Blanche O. O. Macauley Director, IEES FBC, USL Sierra Leone "Man disobeyed God Almighty who created him and hence, he suffered agony and misery. However, God in his mercy sent Jesus to redeem man and grant him eternal life if he accepts what God has done. The story of mercy and restoration is worth reading. Magnus Williams has not only made new the timeless story of sin but has also reminded readers that salvation though free is available if they fully accept God in their lives. The story of salvation is never old." Dr Stephen N.Macauley Coordinator of Learning Lowell Bennion Center University of Utah, USA.
